Several intaglios and cameos with portraits of Caracalla are kept in museums and sold on auctions. It is not easy to distinguish between ancient objects and work from the last few centuries. In the Byzantine period a portrait of Caracalla on an intaglio was reworked and became a portrait of Saint Peter.
