Funerary altar of Lucius Caltilius Diadumenus

Provenance unknown. The tomb of the family is known in Ostia, see the topic The Caltilii.
Date: 140-170 AD. H. 1.29.

The front is dominated by the portrait of the deceased. On the upper part, on the corners, are masks. Below the portrait is the inscription:

D(is) M(anibus) L(ucio) CALTILIO DIADVMENO VIXIT ANNIS XXXV L(ucius) CALTILIVS EUHODVS SENIOR LIBERTO OPTIMO FECIT L(ucius) CALTILIVS DIADVMENVS HIC CONDITVS EST

To the gods of the underworld. For Lucius Caltilius Diadumenus. He lived years 35. Lucius Caltilius Euhodus senior for his outstanding freedman made this. Lucius Caltilius Diadumenus is buried here.
