Base with Annona, Dea Roma and Sicilia

Excavated in 1802-1804 by Petrini.
Date: late third or early fourth century AD. H. 0.30.

The krater with a dionysiac thiasos on top does not belong to the base. On the base three figures are depicted. Annona with a turreted head holds a rudder and a tessera frumentaria. She is standing next to a wide grain measure with three feet, on which six grain ears are depicted. On the head of Sicily is the triskeles. The seated Roma is holding a small Victoria (holding a wreath and a palm branch) and a lance. In the grain measure is a hole. Is the object hollow?
