Portus - 27 Building

This building, to the north of the Imperial Palace (26), was built with excellent opus mixtum and can be dated to the early second century AD. It had at least one upper floor. A courtyard on the first floor provided light to a cryptoporticus covered by cross-vaults on three sides of the ground floor. There are rooms on either side of the latter corridor. It is not clear what the function of the building was.
