Cagliari - Villa of Tigellius
The name Villa of Tigellius has been assigned to a group of ruins to the west of the Botanical Garden. The Sardinian Tigellius was a lyric poet and friend of Julius Caesar, known from the Satires of Horace and some letters of Cicero. There is nothing however that links him to the remains, that are made up of three houses, in use from the 1st to at least the 4th century AD. One of these has been named House of the Painted Tablinum, another House of the Stucco Reliefs.
