The northern stretch of the Cardo Maximus was flanked by shops. The eastern shops are back-to-back with another row of shops, opening off Via dei Dipinti. The shops on Via dei Dipinti were numbered I,V,1. They were built during the reign of Hadrian (opus mixtum).
All shops had barrel vaults. Three of the central shops have doorways to the shops along the Cardo. Three external stairways led to apartments on the upper floors.
