Villas - Aargau - Waltenschwil-Büelisacker

In Waltenschwil, to the north-east of the Hallwilersee, the bathing rooms of a villa were excavated in 1862, at locality Büelisacker. Four rooms had a hypocaust for heating. Room III was decorated with a mosaic on the floor and on the lower part of the walls. The latter mosaic was polychrome, with vegetative motifs. The building was erected in the later first century, and used until the middle of the third century.

Plan and drawings of the remains of the villa. Keller 1864(2), Taf. XV.

Detail of the mosaics in room III. Keller 1864(1), Taf. II,1.
