In Cressier, a bit to the east of the Murtensee, a storage room was excavated in 1997-1998. It was built in the late first century and enlarged in the second century. It was an isolated building, eventually measuring 8.00 x 4.50 m.
View of the room. Vauthey-Bugnon 1999, Fig. 5.The entrance was marked by two walls that were set at right angles against one of the long walls. Only a semi-interred basement had been preserved, with walls 0.40-0.45 m. thick. The size of the room suggests that it contained mixed contents, including foodstuffs. The size of two holes in the floor suggests that they contained amphoras. Posts supporting shelves were probably inserted in a row of small holes along one of the long walls. The room was given up around 200 AD. It was then filled with rubble from a house, including fragments of paintings. The periphery of the room was also investigated, but no traces of a building were encountered. A house cannot have been far away however.
Reconstruction of the room. Vauthey-Bugnon 1999, Fig. 11.
