In 2006-2007 a fortification was discovered in Weesen at the locality Rosengarten. It was situated on the former river Linth (today the Linth canal), just to the west of the Walensee. Only small parts of walls and of three towers were excavated, but it sufficed for a reconstruction of the plan. There must have been square towers on the corners, with more towers and a gate in between. The wall was 2.40-2.50 m. thick. A comparison with other fortifications suggests a date around the middle or in the second half of the fourth century AD.
