In Monthey, a few kilometers to the west of Massongex, remains of a villa were found at the locality Marendeu-Chenau. The excavations took place on several occasions, beginning in 1942. More excavations were announced in 2020. Building phases from the first to fifth century were identified. Three rooms with a hypocaust for heating formed part of baths. Amongst the finds from 1981 was a stone altar without an inscription.
