Schola del Traiano (IV,V,15) - nrs. 632-647
The building Description and function This building was most likely the office of the Procurator Annonae. It was entered from the western Decumanus Maximus, through a monumental facade with four marble columns and two very large niches. Date The building was erected during the reign of Antoninus Pius.
Nrs. 632-647 Description Four entrances flank the monumental entrance. There are two shops to the south, and an external staircase and a very wide shop to the north. All jambs have a low and a high cornerstone (the numbers begin at the south end with low stone 632 and end at the north end with high stone 647). The jambs of the two southern rooms are L-shaped, and so are the stones. Stone 645 has a hole or groove in the upper part. Date The stones belong to a (Severan?) restoration of the facade.
