Liber Pater

The worship of Liber Pater is discussed in a separate section about the Temple of Liber Pater, the Forum Vinarium and the Torlonia relief.

Next to the objects discussed there, we have a few objects, of which unfortunately the precise place of discovery is unknown. The first one is intriguing, because of the fragmentary inscription [---]YTH PATER, held by a Victoria flying to the left. For the letters YTH no explanation has been found. PATER might be part of Liber Pater. Two large figures have been preserved, the left one perhaps a Maenad, the right one a man holding a thyrsus.
