Regio I - Insula XIV - Caseggiato I,XIV,9

This is a Trajanic building (opus mixtum) with an apartment on the ground floor, behind five shops. In the centre of the east facade, along Via degli Horrea Epagathiana, is an ornamental doorway, of two doors. It leads to a staircase on a concrete barrel vault and to the vestibule, below the second flight of the staircase. In the south wall of the entrance corridor behind the vestibule is a fountain-niche, with a hole for a lead pipe in the back.

The plan of the apartment is very reminiscent of that of a medianum-apartment, but the intersecting entrance corridor is unusual.

Plan of the building. After SO I.
