A straight stretch of a Roman road was found to the east of Rohr, near Aarau. It was part of the road from Aventicum (Avenches VD) to Vindonissa (Windisch AG). The stretch was first described in the late 19th century, when it could be seen for a distance of 1300 meters (today only a much shorter stretch can be seen). It consisted of a bed of large river pebbles, six to seven meters wide, on top of which was an embankment of gravel and sand, creating a curved surface. The maximum height was 0.90 m.
