Cities, villages, fortresses - Aargau - Sisseln

In Sisseln a military installation was discovered on the river Rhine at the locality Hintere Halde. It bears a great resemblance to installations in Mumpf (AG) and Aegerten (BE): a rectangular hall (in this case 18 x 26.80 m.) flanked by two semicircular towers. The structures belong to the second half of the fourth century. The building in Sisseln was excavated in 1915. The ruins were replaced by a modern building in 1972.

Plan of the military buildings flanked by semicircular towers. Häseli - Schwarz 2020, Abb. 23.
