In Oerlingen (part of Kleinandelfingen), some 15 kilometers to the north of Winterthur, a cellar was excavated in 1924-1925. It measured 7.00 x 2.50 m. and was 1. 80 m. deep. It was entered via a staircase, 1.25 m. wide, in one of the corners. Near the staircase were two recesses, measuring 0.85 x 0.60 m. and 0.80 x 0.70 m., apparently hearths with chimneys. In the recesses and on the floor of the room ashes and charcoal were found. The sides of the recesses showed traces of fire, but the walls of the cellar did not.
