In Weiach two watchtowers on the Rhine were found. One, at the locality Leebern, has completely disappeared. The other, at the locality Hardwald, was discovered in 1866 and investigated in 1907, 1922, and 1969. It measured 7.50 x 7.50 m., with walls 1.20 m. thick. At a distance of 5.50-6.00 m. was a moat, 1.40-1.50 m. wide and 1 m. deep. It was surrounded by earthworks. The tower will have been built around 370 AD.
