Cities, villages, fortresses - Aargau - Rheinfelden-Pferrichgraben

Near Rheinfelden, in the north-west part of the canton, a watchtower was discovered in 1900 at the locality Pferrichgraben. It was excavated in 1910 and 1938. It measures 11 x 12 m., with walls 2.10 and 1.80 thick. In the interior a hearth was found. At a distance of some 10 meters was a moat, 4 m. wide and 2 m. deep.
