Remains of the fortification were found in the Kirchhügel ("Church Hill") area, below and around the church of Saint Arbogast. The wall (7) was 2.90 m. thick. A semicircular tower, apparently flanking a gate, and a moat (8; 35 m. long, 3.50 m wide, 2 m. deep) were identified.

The fortification was built on top of older buildings. Remains were found of wooden buildings dating back to the reign of Augustus, of baths with a hypocaust (5), and of a Gallo-Roman temple (1; 15.35 x 16.10, with a cella measuring 7.50 x 8.30 m.). A capital of the Tuscan order was found. The temple was surrounded by an enclosing wall (2; 20 x 52 m.). There seems to have been a square to the north.
